I have noticed quite a few bumper stickers lately that talk about Pride. This pride is usually focused on our nation and ourselves. When ever I see one of these I can not help but think of all the admonishments in scripture concerning pride. Actually the sentiment should be quite different when you consider the following verses.

Amos 3:6 (NKJV) "If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not Yahweh¹ have done it?"

Jeremiah 16:10-12 (NKJV) "And it shall be, when you show this people all these words, and they say to you, 'Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great disaster against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?'
11 then you shall say to them, 'Because your fathers have forsaken Me,' says Yahweh; 'they have walked after other gods and have served them and worshiped them, and have forsaken Me and not kept My law.
12 'And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one follows the dictates of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me."

Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV) "When a man's ways please Yahweh, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

1 "the LORD" has been replaced with Yahweh which is much closer to the original YHVH than "the LORD".
